What an eventful year to say the least. I know it's been quite some time since you've received a blog post. All I can say is there hasn't been much time to sit down and type. God teaches us all throughout the Bible that in order to produce and be fruitful you must keep moving. We are called to be in motion, it's where we learn, grow, and experience life at it's best.
This year alone, we were able to guide our church into being completely debt free. This has been weighing heavy on my heart for several years and I could not be happier about the decisions that have been made as a church family. I am quite certain that God is pleased by our progress as well. All of this was made possible, not because of some miracle, but by understanding that God does not intend for us to be held down by loans. But instead, to be free to grow, serve, and explore new ways of bringing others to Christ. All of which is easier without the debt.
In addition to helping in our church, we have been b...
Make sure you start the day together! You may be on different schedules, but don't let that stop you from telling your special somebody that you love them. Maybe do a morning prayer or scripture reading together. Here's a great husband & wife bible study written by Les & Leslie Parrott, The One Year Love Talk Devotional for Couples
Don't break the bank! I know some of you may feel the invisible pressure to out do everyone on social media with some huge to-do. News flash! You can show her you care without emptying your account. Click Here for a few ideas
K.I.S.S Rule (Keep It Serving,Silly)! There are everyday things where you could rise to occasion by helping take the load off of your spouse. Nothing tells your wife you love her more than doing the laundry, rubbing her feet, making her dinner, or putting the kids to bed while she relaxes. On the flip side wives, I've never seen a husband turn down a back rub, a twelve pack of his favorite brew,...

Every purchase we make should leave us full of joy. If buying something later ends in sorrow you have to ask yourself, "Was this a good purchase?" That answer is probably no. But why are we left feeling sorrowful? Was the item too expensive? Was it not needed? Did you impulse buy? Or were you trying to compete with a purchase made by a friend?
Regardless of the answer to these questions, you have to stop and ask yourself, did making this purchase hinder me from making the bills this month?
Creating a budget that includes categories for shopping and leisure activities will give you the permission that you've been waiting for. That's right, I said it. A category for shopping!! After all, if you're gonna do it, why not have a plan and be intentional about it. It's better to plan ahead and know that your four walls (food, clothing, transportation, and shelter) are covered. Once you've taken care of these four categories, all the rest is simply a game of chess with your money. No one is thre...
How many times have you found yourself with all of your store charge cards all caught up? Your Victoria Secrets, Macys, REI, Dick's Sproting Goods, Zales, even Toys R Us has a charge card. Whatever's in your wallet, we all have been there. That calming feeling when everything is paid, Ahhh... But then fall arrives and you forgot to put money aside for the expensive holidays. You know, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. Those magical holidays that seem to pop up out of nowhere.
What if I told you that for only $30 per week (less than that stop off at Starbucks every morning) you could have enough money to cover all three holidays and never need to touch those precious paid off cards again! That's right, if you start Jan 1st putting money in an envelope at home or a virtual wallet at your bank (sub-account), in 45 weeks you would have a staggering $1,350 set aside. That's $800-$1,000 dollars to cover Chistmas for the kids and a few extended family members that you "really care abou...
We all have goals, dreams, or plans for what we'll be doing when we retire. Or do we? Have you and your spouse ever really sat down, just the two of you, over a nice dinner. Or like my brother and sister in law do and talk about their dreams on the front porch sipping their favorite adult beverages. Wherever that peaceful spot may be, we all need to take that quality time to make sure we're heading in the right direction. And most importantly, we are both heading in the same direction.
As a proud father of four amazing kids, I know how easy it can be to get consumed in activities, sports, scouting, sleepovers, birthday parties, holidays, you name it. We are constantly revolving our lives around our children. Not saying there is anything wrong with that, in fact I wouldn't change it for anything. But we still need to carve out that time that's just for the adults! Just the two of you, with no distractions, so you can really express to your spouse what retirement looks lik...
Sitting at work today, alone, in a dark basement classroom, with no windows, old furniture, and silence. My mind began to drift. Thinking about all the people I could be helping if I wasn't here today working at my "day job." I know that God has so much more waiting for us just around the corner. But how long will we need to wait? Or is waiting not the answer? Maybe i'm supposed to just quit my job today and see what happens! Yeah that's not gonna happen anytime soon. There's no way that I could walk through the door and tell my amazing, hard working wife that I just quit and left it up to God to figure out. I'd be dead meat!!
Those two questions are ones that i've been troubled with for quite some time now. I know that God gives me free will to make decisions, but I also know that with a wife and four children at home depending on my successes, it can be difficult to take those necessary risks. Not to mention that the bible clearly states to, "take care of my ow...
Consider these common expenses when creating your budget this month:
1.Father’s Day: Dads have a big job, and it means a lot to them when you say thanks—whether that thanks is in the form of power tools or a visit to his favorite restaurant.
2.Festivals: Most people live in or near towns that host festivals. Even better, these events celebrate everything from banana splits to disco to sawdust art. There’s something for everyone. Pick one that sounds enjoyable and have some festival fun!
3.Lawn care: You may want to hire someone to cut your grass or pull weeds this summer. Shop around and compare prices. You can also ask your neighbors if they have any teenage kids who are looking to make extra money. They’ll make some summer cash and you’ll save money. Win-win.
4.Farmers’ markets: Few things taste as delicious as locally grown fruits and vegetables from a farmer’s market. But before you chow down on that fresh produce, make sure you’ve made room for it in your food budget.
Now that Easter has passed, and Jesus is Alive, are you handling your money in a way that would please God? I challenge each of you to examine your spending for the month of April and see what areas you can improve on. Maybe it's your tithing, or maybe it's earning more so that you can put some money aside for a "rainy day." No matter what area you find you're lacking in, we have the tools to help you live a more balanced financial life.
Deuteronomy 8:18... Remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth.
Malachi 3:10... Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this," Says the Lord of Hosts,"if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it."
It's almost that time of year to shower your loved one with flowers, chocolates, and champagne. Or is it? Maybe that's not what your he or she really wants! Maybe they would rather have the financial security that they've always desired. For most women, financial security is the #1 emotion that is keeping them from true happiness. For men, it's the fear of not being able to provide for their family. Be the rock that they've always wanted you to be.
Sign up today for your first one on one coaching or concierge meeting and we'll take care of the champagne this Valentine's Day. We understand how sensitive this subject can be and we pride ourselves on being able to make our clients feel at ease.
